SALES & EV EXPERT PROGRAMME

The role of a Vehicle Sales Advisor is to sell new and used vehicles and to provide each and every one of our customers with consistently high levels of customer service.

You’ll learn how to identify a customer’s needs and interests; advise customers; promote the features and benefits of vehicles; appraise vehicles, and negotiate difficult sales.

This exciting apprenticeship programme is ideal for someone who enjoys engaging with people, a challenging and varied working environment, and who wants to develop a long-term career with an ambitious automotive brand.

Our exciting new Sales & EV Expert programme has been designed to train and create outstanding Sales Advisors with strong Electric Vehicle knowledge. You will gain a professional, industry-recognised qualification along with key brand product and sales training to make sure you have the skills, knowledge, and behaviours to launch into a successful career within the ever-evolving retailer environment.

This is a 12-month programme full of dedicated training from our in-house trainer, multibrand emersion events, EV Awareness qualifications, and of course training provided by our dedicated Academy. All whilst gaining first-hand dealership experience.

THE ROLE OF A VEHICLE SALES ADVISOR

The Vehicle Sales Advisor role varies slightly by the employer, based upon the specific needs of the location. The below explanation is therefore a guide to support you in understanding what the role might entail.

Vehicle Sales Advisors, executives, or vehicle salespeople are responsible for selling new and used vehicles. Duties may vary depending on the type and size of the organisation.

Duties for this site are:

  • Managing sales and stock preparations day-to-day
  • Visual merchandising on the site every day
  • Digital merchandising – videos and photos for the website
  • Helping with customer enquiries
  • Supporting colleagues with the sales process

Other duties may include:

  • Greeting customers, discussing their needs and advising them on the most suitable vehicle
    • Arranging test drives
    • Negotiating sale and trade-in prices
    • Working out finance arrangements and packages, which may include organising registration plates, road tax, and delivery of vehicles
    • Highlighting any additional products relevant to the customer
    • Processing orders and completing relevant paperwork, which may include carrying out stock checks using manufacturers’ databases
    • Updating customers on the progress of orders and contacting potential customers to update them about new vehicles and deals
    • Updating stock lists
    • Managing advertising and updating the website
    • Keeping the forecourt and cars clean and tidy
    • Providing potential customers with relevant literature and information
    • Inspecting vehicles pre-and post-sale

In larger organisations you may work as part of a team, specialising in one aspect of selling. In smaller organisations you may be responsible for all aspects of vehicle sales.

WORKING WEEK

Monday to Friday 8.30am – 5.30pm, however, each of our retailers will have different requirements. Total hours per week: 40.00.

All learners will be required to work the minimum apprenticeship duration of 30 hours per week. At least 20% of your working hours will be allocated to ‘off-the-job’ training. We’ll support you to understand the working hours during the recruitment process.

YOUR DEVELOPMENT

Our Apprenticeship Programme is an excellent way of ensuring we have high-quality people working within our business. We’re looking for ambitious candidates ready to take ownership of their development, work hard to achieve their potential, and grow with an ambitious employer.

The Programme typically lasts for 12-14 months and you’ll achieve a nationally recognised qualification.

We will support you to gain your Functional Skills, Core Skills in Scotland if you require them in Maths and English.

Block training is complemented by a combination of regular coaching visits from one of our experienced Coaches as well as Virtual Classroom sessions and E-Learning modules.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Age: 16+

Prior Attainment: GCSE (or equivalent) grade A*-C or 9-4 in Maths and English. Predicated grades are accepted.

In Scotland, applicants must have or be predicted to achieve National 4 or above in English and Maths and either a Science or Technical subject. Standard Grades 1-4 and Intermediates are also accepted.

  • Key Skills Level 2
  • NVQs
  • Essential Skills (Wales)
  • Functional Skills Level 2
  • Core Skills (Scotland)
